In 2007 Johnathan Sothcott founded the independent production company Black & Blue Films with Martin Kemp. In Summer 2007 they made the short film Karma Magnet starring Gary Kemp, Adele Silva and Catherine Siggins, which Martin Kemp directed. In early 2009 actor/producer Billy Murray joined the board. Black and Blue Films has since been behind the productions of a remake of video nasty ‘Expose’ starring Jane March and Colin Salmon and film industry spoof ‘Just For The Record’ starring Danny Dyer, Sean Pertwee and Victoria Silvestdt. It is said that Dyer based his ‘Just For The Record’ character, film producer Derek Le Fage, on Sothcott. In the second half of 2009, the company started two more ambitious projects – vampires versus gangsters caper ‘Dead Cert’ and free-running zombie apocalypse blockbuster ‘Devil’s Playground.’ Sothcott is noted for reusing a regular company of actors in many of his films including Danny Dyer, Craig Fairbrass, Lisa McAllister, Steven Berkoff, Phil Davis, Sean Pertwee and Colin Salmon.
